Sage - Your Exclusive Buyer Agent for Strafford Real Estate
Strafford is home to many commuters because of its convenient train stop amid a large development known as Strafford Village, consisting of hundreds of homes built in the 1930s and 1940s by developers who sought to lure cramped Philadelphians to spacious homes in the western suburbs. Philadelphia was roughly 15 miles away, but the train was convenient to all. The homes sold from $7,300 to $15,000. For 16 cents ($1.29 today) and 30 minutes of their time, residents could shuttle between their Chester County home and Philadelphia's Broad Street Station on one of 71 daily trains.
The private Woodlynde School is also located here. Strafford residents gather at the local Farmer“s Market (see below) on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays where the Amish vendors bring their wares to sell, including fresh baked goods, meats, cheeses and many other products. People line up the day before Thanksgiving at 6AM to get their unequalled-in-quality fresh turkeys. The area also has a great breakfast spot, Nudy's, pictured above. You must try the gingerbread pancakes.
