Narberth is a small borough nestled between Ardmore and Wynnewood with a quaint small-town feel to its business district and neighborhoods. Due to its size, it is a true "walking" town. Many of its businesses, restaurants and playgrounds are just a short side-walk stroll from residences. The homes are generally architecturally interesting, modest and fairly close together. They command a bit of a price premium compared to other similar Main Line homes. Families and commuters who like short train rides are drawn to this area and become devotees, never wanting to leave.
The town center is one of the more authentic ones in the area, with a theater, train stop, shops, library, park and cafes. The Narberth playground is thought by many to be one of the best recereational facilities on the Main Line. Surrounding recreational fields are home to the Narberth Athletic Association, which hosts many athletic leagues including its well-known summer basketball league.
Narberth sponsors many year round family -oriented activities, including a all day celebration for the 4th of July. Tom Grady, the mayor of Narberth, has said of the July 4th celebration, "It is a coming-home celebration. We live in a small town, and it is a time for us to celebrate that way of life." Each Saturday in December there is a traditional Dickens Festival on the streets of downtown Narberth. It is a Victorian-themed event with activities for children and horse and carriage rides for all. Narberth is small town living right next to the city.
